If the company was a park and the employees were children, we would hear this phrase regularly! For decades, there has been a real change in the demands of the workforce and companies have struggled to meet them. By always making the same recipes, it is unlikely to have different results…
Children have this ability to perceive that things are not going well for them and to withdraw by announcing it loud and clear. They don’t look for what’s wrong with them to make a change, they look for people and games to feel good and have fun.
I’m still that little girl and I still say loud and clear ” if it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore ” and either it has an awareness effect and humans reconnect, or I withdraw. The book I wrote in 2014, Défi d’entreprise : croître en équilibre (would translate Business Challenge: Balancing Business Growth) was my first step to change things and give entrepreneurs and companies the keys and innovative approaches to break the cycle and put people at the center of everything, create successful human businesses.
Today, I’m taking the plunge and sharing with you in my own way the realities since I arrived on the job market, where I said this sentence and I left the game. They are also employee grievances heard from friends, conversations in the subway or any other public place, gems of information. Surprisingly, these problems experienced and heard are still very much present in companies today… And it’s been 42 years since I started on the job market, yikes…
I also share my thoughts and reflections on how to change things quickly, how to put people at the center to both achieve people’s well-being and become highly productive for the well-being of the company. Create an environment where you hear ” If that’s how, I play!! ”
If it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore…
Here are a few realities that make the working world inhuman and the perfect example for the phrase that every employee would like to say!
Management presents the results of its strategic planning… tragic. No consideration of resource capacity, time for unforseen clients, legislative, supplier and technological events, no consideration of employee needs or uniqueness, imposed end dates without considering the actual time to get there, inconsistencies with mission and values, etc. If it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore…
The teams are struggling to collaborate and to produce. They are disturbed by unmanaged toxic personalities, power struggles, the obligation to mold oneself even if it is against the person, everything that is needed for unhappiness and lack of synergy. If it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore…
There are inconsistencies between what we say and what we do, between values and behaviors, between policies and actions. Nonsense is the flavor of the month. Employees are not consulted, involved and above all, do not have the right to speak up to improve things (or if they do, it backfires). If it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore…
A qualified and committed person is managed by a leader who does not give him the power of his tasks, dictates what to do and how to do it, forces him to adapt continuously, to move away from his way of being and doing, not being himself. If it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore…
The organization of work without considering the uniqueness of each person makes many people feel that their potential is not being used, do tasks that are not interesting to them, have difficulty producing and feel mental fatigue almost every day. If it’s like that, I’m not playing anymore…
If that’s how, I play!!
My mission to participate in the creation of successful human enterprises motivates me to innovate, to find quick and efficient ways to achieve it. Here is what I offer as a solution when I support companies.
Is it possible to be consistent all the time? To do what we say, to behave in the expected way, to create consciously with common sense, to allow ourselves to accept what is to quickly rectify the situation if necessary?
Yes, it is possible. The cornerstone of a company’s balance is its values. The problem is that few companies fully operationalize them to create coherence. A diagnosis to identify inconsistencies is essential to rectify the situation and then put in place tools to avoid creating them in the future. This is the solution. Humans are complex, do we really know people, how they work? Do we allow each person to simply be themselves? Are we enjoying what everyone has to offer effortlessly and brilliantly?
Each person is unique. Fortunately, the tools to recognize this uniqueness and to get to know each person exist. There are three parts of the mind and by focusing on them, we ensure that the person will be on his or her sweet spot, without compromise and that the company will thus benefit from optimal productivity without effort:
Affective
Humans have their motivations, interests, preferences – it’s normal not to like certain things and we should have the right to say so. There is always someone who likes to do what you don’t like to do; bartering has been around for a very long time. How many people dwell on the costs of PROCRASTINATION for the person and for the company?
Cognitive
Humans have knowledge, experiences, skills – it’s important to make sure that a person has the foundation required to build on it to ensure their success. How many people have experienced failures because they have been put in positions for which they did not have the basics?
Conative
Humans have their instincts to act – it is crucial to know the natural talent and instinctive strengths to assign the right role to each employee and balance teams, essential to know everyone’s modus operandi to make decisions and solve problems, because it allows you to have the right strategies to collaborate with respect for everyone. It is non-negotiable to dwell on it, because the instinct to act also informs about the recipe for managing one’s mental energy.
Every human being is unique and when they are themselves, they are magnificent! How many adults do we hear say ” he is magnificent ” when contemplating a young child who feels good, just himself, who acts freely, here and now. If the company offers each individual to be, it offers well-being, a framework that promotes good mental health, increased productivity without effort.
Imagine what happens when a company integrates all three components and consistency in its management, it will have:
- The right person for each position – motivated by the mission and interested in the role – will be able to evolve by developing his knowledge, act exactly according to the needs of the position, be hyper- productive.
- Employee well-being (better mental health and reduced presenteeism, absenteeism and professional diseases).
- Instant team synergy.
- A high rate of attraction, engagement and retention.
- Maximum productivity (50% to 300% increase).
- Profitability and efficiency.
- Fluid and accelerated growth.
